Backstage News On Plans For Brock Lesnar vs. Seth Rollins SummerSlam Match
Seth Rollins won a 10-man Battle Royal on this week's episode of Monday Night Raw to become the No. 1 contender for Brock Lesnar's Universal Championship, setting up a rematch between the two superstars at SummerSlam.
Their first two championship matches have been short thus far; Rollins put away Lesnar in 2:30 at WrestleMania 35 to win the title. However, Lesnar cashed in his Money in the Bank contract at Sunday's Extreme Rules pay-per-view, defeating Rollins in a matter of seconds to regain the Universal Championship.
But according to Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer Live (h/t Ringside News), Rollins and Lesnar will take part in the main event of SummerSlam. Not only that, but the two superstar will "do a real match this time," rather than a short "five minute match."
That's obviously good news for the WWE fans, because Rollins and Lesnar are simply two of the greatest in-ring performers the company has. But for unknown reasons, WWE made their WrestleMania bout extremely short - and Lesnar in general wrestles plenty of matches that only last a few minutes.

Rollins and Becky Lynch successfully defended their respective championships in a mixed tag match against Lacey Evans and Baron Corbin at Extreme Rules. After the match, however, Lesnar appeared and cashed in his MITB contract. He brutally attacked Rollins before handing his contract over to the referee, making easy work of The Architect to become the new champion.
Now, Rollins and Lesnar will clash in a Universal Championship match for the third time this year, and it's possible that SummerSlam winds up being the rubber match. And as long as the bout doesn't end in short time, Lesnar vs. Rollins Part III could go down as one of the top matches of 2019.
What This Means
We haven't seen much in-ring chemistry between Rollins and Lesnar, so we're long overdue for a true marathon match between the two. This promises to be a special bout between two of the company's biggest superstars, and it has the chance to be one of the better SummerSlam main events of all time.
