Darius Carlos Rucker was born in Charleston, South Carolina on May 13, 1966. His mother was a nurse at the Medical University of South Carolina Carolyn and raised him and his 5 siblings.

According to him, Darius Rucker rarely saw his father except on Sundays before church. Darius Rucker’s father was a member of the gospel group the Rolling Stones.

He released his second solo album “Learn to Live” which peaked at #5 on the US Billboard 200 and was a great commercial success becoming his best-selling solo record.

Over the next few years, Rucker continued his solo career releasing many albums such as “Charleston, True Believers, Home for the Holidays, Southern Style, and When Was the Last Time”.
