How did Julian Figueroa die?

On Monday, Figueroa's mother, Guardia, posted on Instagram about the tragic death of her son. The following is what she wrote in a post that was translated from Spanish to English,  "It saddens me to announce the passing of my beloved son Julian Figueroa, who has unfortunately preceded us in parting from this level."

Guardia claimed to have been visiting a theater when her unconscious son was discovered at his home. "They called 911 and when the ambulance and police arrived, they found him already lifeless, with no traces of violence," said Guardia. "The medical report indicates that he died of an acute myocardial infarction and ventricular fibrillation," she added. Guardia asked for the family's privacy and declared that the funeral will take place in private.

Per WION News, a partial or complete blockage of the blood flow to the myocardium causes myocardial infarction (MI), which is also known as a 'heart attack.' On the contrary, ventricular fibrillation is a variation of an irregular heartbeat. Ventricular fibrillation is characterized by erratic, fast contraction of the lower heart chambers. As a result, the heart stops pumping blood to the other organs of the body.

Who was Julian Figueroa?

Figueroa played ballads with a traditional band and a northern flavor, just like his father Joan Sebastian. His most popular songs included 'Yo Sera,' 'Ay Amor,' and 'Volaré.' One of his well-regarded CDs is 'Julián Figueroa Y Su Banda.' In addition, he showcased his acting skills in 'Mi Camino Es Amarte.'

Thanks to his dedication to his profession, audience, and community, Figueroa has a devoted following and a long list of accolades. He has won multiple Latin Grammy Awards, Billboard Latin Music Awards, and Premios Lo Nuestro awards, among other awards.

Figueroa's final Instagram post was dedicated to his late father Joan Sebastian, who he lost in 2015. He said in the English translation of the caption he had put with a picture of himself as a toddler with his father, "How slowly 8 years have passed since the day you left. Fans acclaim, 'Long live the People's Poet,' but I don't care, I just want my father." The young Mexican performer concluded the post by saying, "To hell with the grammys with the fame and the money cause my only wish is to hold you... one more time."

Figueroa would have turned 28 years old on May 5. He is the third of Juan Sebastian's eight children to die, following the 2006 murder of Trigo Figueroa and the 2010 killing of Juan Sebastian. The musician and actor is survived by his wife Ime Garza, son Jose Julian, 6, and siblings Jose Manuel, Juliana, Zarelea, Marcelina, and Joana.
