Jeffrey Jacob Abrams was born in New York City to Peabody Award-winning television executive producer Carol Ann Abrams ( 1942–2012) and experienced television producer Gerald W. Abrams (born 1939), who is of Polish–Jewish origin. Tracy Rosen, a screenwriter, is his sister. Prior to Abrams’ birth, his father worked at CBS in Midtown Manhattan. The family had moved to Los Angeles by 1971. While Abrams and his sister were at school, his mother was a real estate agent.
