A little too MOR to be "funky". She was fun on game shows. Ruta Lee, who had an actual acting career was her contemporary and appeared on a lot of the shows.

She was more of an adult contemporary singer before, but this album was amazing - discovered it a few years ago.

On her 50's stuff (before my time, but I've gone back and listened), she sounds pretty much like every other white female pop singer from the pre-rock era, at least to me.

I'm pleasantly surprised by how she sounds on this 70's stuff. Very relaxed, and pleasing to the ear. I wouldn't go so far as to say she sounds funky, but I would say there's a natural soulfulness there.

It's no "Happy and Peppy", though!

Closet Man was one of those songs that went around to several singers in the late 70s - the no man's land between the soulful pop of the 60's and the return of it in the mid-80s.
